PARACHUTE JUMP PAVILION INTERNATIONAL IDEAS COMPETITION

Location: New York, USA
Year: 2005
Status: Completed
Area: 600 sq.m.
Team D. Diamantakos

The Parachute Jump appears in the surrounding landscape as a gigantic totemic figure devoted to the golden Cooney Island period, symbolizing the whole vision of an epoch. Any building with strong morphological characteristics would find itself displaced compared to the adjacent physical presence of the 260ft. tall metallic tower. Following these guidelines the project proposes a transparent “playing field” which accentuates events; a structure that exists to house the activities that it generates and offers visual connections to the ocean and the Parachute Jump.
